“People Helping People” Support Group Every Monday

 

 

The Habitude™Wellness Centre  offers a support groups for individuals in Southern Ontario. The Co-founder of Turning Point’s Habitude Addiction Program, and Director of Peer Support, Tammy Francoeur envisioned this type of group for years and is really pleased to see this group up and running.

“PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE” Southern Ontario began the first week of January 2013, and already people are feeling better.  The Group is growing…. with New friends, great support, more information, better insight, … better self care!

For the past 5 years, our good friend Mark Elliot has been giving his love, time and compassion to many group members in the Toronto Area.  We are excited and appreciative  that Mark has so generously offered to lend a hand to this group. We have been priveledged as well, to have Liam Carey provide support and guidance to our Southern Ontario group. The families love his humor and wisdom.

The group offers support for individuals in Hamilton-Wentworth, Kitchener, Halidmand-Norfolk , Halton-Peel and Niagara Region…. but is not limited to these areas only. We would love to see out of town guests attend as well.

The Habitude™Wellness Centre will offer a support night for family members, those in early recovery and those with long term recovery that could lend a hand to their peers. This is about People getting back their sense of community and knowing that there someone there to offer guidance and support in their time of need and then eventually paying it forward to someone else in need.

 

The Group  meets every Monday from 7pm-9pm.

***We ask that you come prepared and bring your own coffee/water to keep the meetings simple.

 

This is a no cost group however, donations will be graciously accepted to help cover overhead costs. We would like to be able to give some counsellors some gas money to show our gratitude and appreciative for giving their time and commitment to helping others on their time off.
The Format is as follows:  

 

Group will meet and will be able to listen to guest speakers who will focus on various topics weekly for approximately 30 minutes. There will be an opportunity for the newcomers to access support for approximately 30 minutes and then we will reconvene and break the group into 3 sub-groups for approximately 30 minutes .

1. Female members who have a person close to them in recovery or battling an addiction problem

 

2. Male members who have a person close to them in recovery or battling an addiction problem

 

3. Individuals in recovery

 

We will re-group and offer a moment to say a closing prayer.
