Short Term Approaches Don’t Work

Evidence says the brain takes a minimum of 3 months to repair. Yet our government continues to push 12-18 day programs and blame the client.

And yet most people know the definition of insanity but refuse to see how this definition is relevant today with helping people struggling with addictions.  Even the people who create these short term programs know it doesn’t make sense. They know that Acute withdrawals are the shortest step in recovery lasting anywhere from 2-15 days. Unsupported Post-acute withdrawals can last years. Dealing with the underlying pain takes time….

And ” We ” wonder why short term programs don’t work ?
