Are people OK to smoke a joint and then get in the car and drive, go to work or look after kids?
Marijuana is a mood altering drug and also effects motor skills…. so I would not be comfortable having my kids driven in a car when someone was stoned.
We don’t allow it anymore for drinkers but today- people smoke a lot of pot recreationally and feel they are ok to go about their day as if they didn’t.
The issue arises for people who are take a lot of pain or mood altering medications as well. There are valid concerns for the safety of everyone’s well being.
Sadly, there are no quick tests to determine if the Mood altering drug is impairing one’s ability to work, drive, or take care of dependents.
It is only when a person gets pulled over by the Police and is forced to do a breathalyzer that we can determine who is over the legal limit.
Unfortunately, sometimes it is too late.
If you suspect someone is putting you or your family at risk, don’t hesitate to report them. You may save a life- Maybe even theirs.
No-one really wants to intentionally hurt someone- BUT the addiction is what is driving the bus…. NOT the driver.
