Tis the season to be jolly…… or was it a holiday you couldn’t wait to finish?

Tis the season to be jolly…… or was it a holiday you couldn’t wait to finish?

Christmas and New Years can be a wonderful time of year for many families. Lots of good food, many good laughs and some necessary re-connecting with loved ones…..

It can also be a very stressful time, if a loved one is struggling with an addiction. It can create havoc for the entire family. The addiction can, and will take everyone hostage. The addiction demands to be the centre of attention and wants things done their way.

There is no compassion for families. No compassion for kids crying when they have been let down again. No compassion for abusing this precious time to feed the demands of your addicted loved one.

Tears flow, words are screamed out of frustration and hurt, and damage is done to the dynamics of the family unit. People dance around the issue and are afraid to demand their own peace and quiet…. everything revolves around the sick addicted son, daughter, mother, father, sister or brother, husband or wife.

People walk on egg shells…. No one wants to be the bad guy. No one has the courage to walk away. Everyone gets sucked into the madness….and everyone thinks they can make them stop.

It is insanity at its best.

But this is a New Year.
A year for change.
A Year to take back your power.
A Year to get healthy and really be happy.
This is the year that YOU need to start saving YOU.
Only then can you be a healthy support to your kids, your partner, your parents, and/or your sick loved one.
Once you get healthy– you will know what you need to do next year during the Holidays or even this year at Easter…. so you never have to go through another sad holiday again……
